September is Heritage Month and a time that the nation celebrates aspects of South African culture through creative expression such as music and performances, our historical inheritance, language, food and various forms of the Arts. The Arts Alive Festival has been doing this for Joburgers for 25 years.

It’s only fitting that such a momentous occasion will feature the grand re-opening of the iconic Jabulani Amphitheatre at Soweto Theatre, on Heritage day. And among the host of events open and free to the public this is only an occasion for the communities and cultures to dress up and celebrate their roots proudly.

This year’s Festival features the likes of an acclaimed drummer for Beyoncé and the late legendary Prince, Jamaica’s leading lady of dancehall song, this year’s winners of the Best Male and Best Female of the year and much more. From crafts markets to art exhibitions and book readings, poetry, graffiti art and performances in Jazz, Hip hop, R&B, Acapella, House, Afro pop the list goes on.
